1. Acceptance and changes
By creating an account or using ChapterWhen, you agree to follow these terms together with the Community Guidelines, Privacy Policy, and Copyright & Takedown Policy.
We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Material changes will be announced in advance, and the effective date above will be revised. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. [NOTICE PERIOD AND CHANGE PROCEDURE TO BE CONFIRMED WITH COUNSEL.]
2. Accounts and responsibilities
- Registration creates a reader account. Author publishing access is granted by platform administrators; requesting it does not guarantee approval.
- You must provide accurate registration information, keep your password confidential, and not share your account. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- One person should operate one account unless the platform owner approves otherwise. Impersonating another person is prohibited (see Community Guidelines).
- There is currently no self-service password reset. If you lose access to your account, contact support via Contact & Support.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use ChapterWhen to:
- Break the law or infringe intellectual-property rights.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Post spam, scams, malware, or deceptive content.
- Attempt to access accounts, drafts, or administrative functions that are not yours.
- Scrape the service aggressively or circumvent rate limits and access controls.
Violations may lead to content removal, feature restrictions, or account suspension as described below.
4. Your content and intellectual property
- Ownership. Authors retain ownership of the original novels, chapters, and other creative works they submit. Nothing in these draft terms transfers copyright to the platform. [OWNERSHIP LANGUAGE TO BE CONFIRMED WITH COUNSEL.]
- Display license (draft). By publishing content, you grant ChapterWhen the limited rights necessary to host, display, format, and distribute that content to readers through the service, unless and until you remove it or your account is closed. The exact scope, duration, and termination of this license [REQUIRE COUNSEL REVIEW BEFORE RELIANCE].
- Drafts. Unpublished drafts are isolated to your author workspace and are not visible to the public. Publishing a chapter makes it visible according to its novel's visibility settings.
- You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit the content you publish, and that it does not infringe the rights of others. See the Copyright & Takedown Policy for reporting and response procedures.
5. Content availability
ChapterWhen aims for reliable reading and publishing, but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, or recovery of any particular content. Authors should keep their own copies of manuscripts. Operational backups, where configured, are a best-effort safety net and not a substitute for author-side copies.
6. Moderation, restrictions, and termination
- Reported content is reviewed by administrators. Content that violates these terms or the Community Guidelines may be hidden from public surfaces, and repeat or severe violations may lead to publishing restrictions or account deactivation.
- Administrative actions are recorded for accountability. If your content or account is restricted and you believe a mistake was made, you may appeal through Contact & Support.
- You may stop using the service at any time. Account deletion requests are handled through support; associated content handling (retention, anonymization, or removal) [REQUIRES OWNER AND COUNSEL DECISION — NO SELF-SERVICE DELETION EXISTS YET].
7. Limitations and disputes (for legal review)
The following sections are structural placeholders only and must be drafted or approved by qualified counsel before public onboarding: disclaimers of warranties, limitations of liability, indemnification, governing law and jurisdiction [JURISDICTION TO BE DETERMINED], dispute resolution and arbitration [MECHANISM TO BE DETERMINED], severability, and assignment.
